'...BRIGHOUSE THROUGH TIME...' IS BACK IN PRINT

Great news - I have just heard that my 2011 book 'Brighouse Through Time' has been brought back into print by the publishers - Amberley Publishing. This book direct from me is £12.99 + £3 p/p - if your delivery address is nearer enough I will deliver the book and of course that means no p/p.

It is 96 pages of both black and white and coloured images of aspects with views of Brighouse and its surrounding communities displaying scenes of 'then and now'. Whilst some scenes have hardly changed others have changed completely. If you would like to purchase a copy please contact me through the contact page on this website.

Yes you can believe it. These two images are taken showing that same corner at Commercial Street with Park Street and are just two of the then and now images you can see and read about in my 'Brighouse Through Time ...' book having been brought back into print by the publishers..

    Chris,
I was born and lived in Brighouse from 1947 until my family moved away in 1963. I went to Elland Road Infant and Junior School. This is now the carbuncle of a building, the "Casa" hotel although people I have mentioned this to have tried to convince me I am wrong and that it was never a school. As I failed my 11+ my parents, thankfully, send me to Steads Commercial College - a private college where I learnt a range of secretarial and administrative skills and these have stood me in good stead throughout my life.

I live in Basingstoke now and when I took my husband to Brighouse for the first time a few years ago I was surprised to see the lake, where once there had been the valley with the river and canal flowing through, a biscuit factory - later to become a carpet factory. When I was little I used to sit on the garden wall where I could see the narrow boats on the canal and watch the icebreakers in winter. (We lived on Brighouse Wood Row on Elland Road so had a view across the whole of the valley). It was great on bonfire night.

My husband really liked Brighouse and loves Yorkshire but it's unlikely we shall move there as the children and grandchildren are here in Basingstoke. However, we still visit and hope to be back in Yorkshire for a short break in the spring.

I have ordered a copy of your book.
