All Good Things Come To An End

All Good Things Come To An End

On Wednesday January 17, I was delivering a digital presentation to the Lightcliffe History Society. I had been asked several months earlier to give a presentation about my 30 years writing the nostalgia page in the Brighouse Echo.

The final slide on the sixty minute presentation was to remind the 70+ audience that the first piece I did was on January 24, 1986 and I have enjoyed every minute of producing the column and then page for 32 years. I finished by adding that I am looking forward to continuing to write the page for as long as the newspaper wants me to produce it.

Little did I know that one week to the day later that I would receive a message saying the newspaper could no longer continue with my nostalgia page.

32 years work has come to and end this message is to say thank you to all those people who have over the years helped me with my research and helpful contributions towards making the nostalgia page interesting and appreciated by its readers.

So, as one door closes others open - onward and upwards I say, time to get my new plans working and dust of a few old plans as well.

I do have a plan - watch this space for further news as the plan is developed and ready to launch.

Good luck with your new venture. Saves me having to buy an Echo now as your article was the only one worth reading.
