New Publication - Brighouse & District Heritage Newseum Magazine

New Publication - Brighouse & District Heritage Newseum Magazine

January 24th 2018 brought a close to my 32 years of writing the weekly nostalgia column in the Brighouse Echo. Contrary to the impression that appeared in the Echo I have not retired and I am as keen as ever about the local history of Brighouse and its surround communities. It was the Echo who decided they could no longer publish my weekly contribution.  No one is indispensable and 32 years is a good run.  So what now ?

Onward and upward - I have decided to produce my own local history magazine. This will be a 16 page + 4 outer cover pages in A4 publication. I am hoping to have four issues per year.  I will not have the distribution network that a newspaper has however, a small number of outlets have already been established where it will be avail;able for purchase. I am mainly going to make the publication available as a download via my website www.chrishelme-brighouse.org.uk  where copies will be available as four issues per year or in singles and payment can be via PayPal. I will also have copies which can be paid for and will then be posted to the purchaser.

The printer is organised, the ISSN number is ready and I am working on it now. The aim is to have it ready all being for the first issue to be available in June.

My new publication will have lots of images and stories not previously seen in any of the 1664 issues of the Echo I wrote for. I will be pleased to hear from anyone with a story or photograph they would like to share with the readers.

How much will the new magazine cost ? - the price is not yet finalised but to use a local well known phrase 'it will not cost an arm and a leg'.

I am now building up an email list of people who would like to be kept informed how the publication is progressing, this is not a committment to buy the publication. If you would like to be added to this growng list please send me your email either through my website contact section or through my email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Further up dates will appear on my website.

Thank you for your support
