Jim Davies virtuoso cornet player, conductor & popular adjudicator is from the Rhondda Valley South Wales. Began playing the cornet at the age of 9. Going on to win dozens of prestigious solo awards, including Champion Soloist of Wales at the age of 15. During his career he has made numerous TV and radio appearances, and is the only one to have won the much-coveted Granada TV Best Soloist award twice. He featured as guest artist at the European and National Brass Band Championships. He also performed in all the major concert halls of the British Isles. He has toured all over Europe, USA & toured Russia on behalf of the Welsh Arts Council.

30 years as one of the finest principal cornet players at both contest & concert stage, with the Cory Band and Brighouse and Rastrick Band. With Cory he won the European and 4 National Championship titles. More National success followed at Brighouse. He released a solo CD 'Evergreen', accompanied by the band. We feature a track on this week's show.
