It would be over forty years ago when I was a police officer in Bailiff Bridge that someone asked me, ‘Where’s fountain gone lad…’.
This weekend marks the time when the whole nation remembers all those who lost their lives during wartime conflicts. To mark this I am featuring three scenes from our past showing events at war memorials in our area.
Since this photograph was taken outside St Chad’s School in 1937 these children have grown up in an ever changing world.
Students from Victoria School, Rastrick c1957 - caught on camera just before they set off across Gooder Lane to the railway station to travel to London and then on to Wembley stadium to watch an England schoolboy football match.The big question is who are these boys ?
