Then it was the afternoon off and then onto the Bluebell Gardening Club at Lepton in the evening. Both groups enjoyed what is my 'Memories of Christmas Past' PowerPoint. Christmas memories from the post-war era, the 1950s and the austerity times of that period. This presentation is always popular and I am asked to present it many times through November and into December. Members of the groups tend to be of a similar age and can identify with my images and commentary, whereas many younger people would perhaps think you are making it up...was it really like that?
Back to Halifax this afternoon to St Andrew's Church and it will be the Christmas presentation once again.
Thursday will be a trip to the family history in Bradford and my popular 'Other Folks Rubbish' presentation, does everyone put things away in case they might come in...? I think we have to be a certain age to get that one.
To finish the week off on Saturday it is tea and a presentation to the members at the Saturday Seniors at Bolton Villas Church. They will enjoy the 'Other Folks Rubbish' presentation because they will put things away just in case it will come in.... the men will still cut plugs off broken down electrical items - you never know when a spare plug will come in. 'Hang-on a minute', we have moulded plugs these days !!! Old habits will not change though. Remember during the 1939-45 war people were encouraged to keep brown paper and string - some members of my audiences still do....
