After Robinson's is a right turn into West Park Street, this was previously called Back Bethel Street and linked into Market Street as it does today. Across the road was Stanley Crabtree's paint and decorating materials shop. After the decorators was George Mitchell's estate agents which late became part of the Eddison's estate agency with its main branch in Huddersfield. On the right hand corner of Park Street was for many years Coombs the shoe repairer shop. But some readers may remember it better as - when you need to remember a senior moment turns up... this shop name is to follow.
Across the road in Bethel Street is the old Salvation Army Citadel. When it was closed and sold off it had a few different businesses occupying it. Today it is the Brighouse Dry Cleaning business who moved there after they left their Park Row premises.
It may only be a couple hundred yards but over the last 40 years these shop premises have had many different tenants/owners and a diverse choice of goods and services on offer.
