Brighouse developed as a mill town in Calderdale in West Yorkshire, built on cotton, silk and wool and heavy industry. The building of the Calder and Hebble Navigation canal in the eighteenth century helped the development of a rich and diverse industrial base. This has changed over the year and Brighouse is now a thriving, busy, modern community.
