Sunday Bandstand 29 January 2017

Philip Cobb has been Principal Trumpet of the London Symphony Orchestra since 2009.

As a youngster, he regularly featured as a soloist on both the cornet and trumpet throughout the UK and abroad alongside brother Matthew and Stephen. In recent years he has appeared as a soloist in his own right with appearances at London’s Royal Albert Hall, the International Trumpet Guild conference in Boston, USA, as well as releasing the solo discs Life Abundant and Songs From The Heart with the International Staff Band of the Salvation Army.

He is a former student at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, having studied with Principal Trumpet of the London Philharmonic Orchestra; Paul Beniston & renowned trumpet soloist Alison Balsom. Upon graduation, Philip was immediately in high demand; trialling for positions in the London Philharmonic and Halle orchestras before accepting his current position with the LSO.

Look out for two tracks played by Philip from his latest CD
